Rocio and Mercedes are two Afro-Dominican artists on a journey of self-discovery, embracing their African heritage. They are celebrating all things Dominican: the culture, the music, family values, and most of all tradition. What sparked this podcast was a need to connect to our roots, to the culture and, to the community. We will explore what it means to be Dominican-American.
Our podcast will be a platform to explore topics such as hair, Dominican history, Immigration, Colorism, Body Image, Dominican culture in the arts, and more. We will be asking questions like: What is a typical Dominican? Is there one? How can we do more with embracing our blackness? What are the relationships like with other Latin cultures and experiences? How do we stay connected to who we are and where we are from?
But always asking the question: How do you amplify and celebrate the AFRO in AFRO-Dominican?
